MAKING MERRY WITH THE MIRDIF MILERS MINDER

A Semi Official Milers night out took place on Thursday night in aid of the Dubai Runners going to London Marathon. As you can see by the photos the theme was a 60's, 70's & 80's night. The night featured the unveiling of the Milers Minder DOT. Mess with us if you dare! Rocking the night away were Jim 'Hawai" Varley, Amelia "lets go back to someones house" Varley, Martin "rocker' Scadden, Anne " Austin Powers" Scadden, Matthew "Gizzard Puke " Diggle, Carol"Goth' Diggle, Lisa "I want me wig back" Jackson & Dave "three wigs" Jackson. The MINDER Dot & the Minders Keeper May were also present.Copious amounts of Alcohol were consumed and we are proud to say that not a single Miler who was at the event made it to the creek striders run on Friday morning.

A hangover "Special" was run by Martin, Matthew & Dave on Friday afternoon! Click on Anne for the Evidence!

THE ORIGINALS

The photo above shows the growing excitement before the the very first Mirdif Milers run on 28th January 2003. The runners are from left, Anne, A N Other (Our chairman obviously didn't get his email address) Keith Thompson, Ali Denton and Pete Larkin. You will note that Mr Larkin was already advertising his intent to defect and Mrs Scadden didn't even honour the momentous ocasion with NEW SHOES.

MILERS SHOW OFF NEW KIT AT RAK 1/2 M

Due to contentious image rights only three MM's were able to display our resplendent new kits at Ras Al Kahimah International Half Marathon on Friday 09 Th February 2007. It should have been 4 but our sponsor was far too hung over to contemplate 13 miles even though he claims he was suffering from Asian Flu! In total 8 milers ran,
Amelia, Paul H, Elaine,Dave, Martin, Carol, Matthew and Ian (who probably denies being a miler). One day when the organisers sort out the results (a job made very difficult as the race numbers failed to last the course) we will know how they all finished.

MIRDIF MILERS RULE THE WADI

The Milers excelled at the Wadi Bih Relay on the 19th January. The "A" team of Chris McCann, Tony Maguire, Ann Scadden, Jim Varley and Dave Jackson blased their way over the mountain to finish a very creditable 2nd in a total time of 5hours 20 mins and 11 seconds.

The "Social team" of our esteemed Chairman, Kiril Galev, Paul Hayward, Amelia Varley and Matthew Diggle completed the course in a respectable 6 hours 11 mins and 40 seconds in 19th place out of the 32 teams taking part.

A great day out was had by all.

MILER ON THE FELLS

Milers old and new met in Skye to run a heroic but ultimately futile Fell Race up a mountain and back down again... We have to ask Why? But Well done Matthew and Peter.
